Since the two latest shootings, in Buffalo and Texas, people are up in arms and playing this "blame game" while trying to make sense of these tragedies. It is a shame that so many innocent lives were suddenly and permanently extinguished at the hands of another person; a literal stranger, and that is what makes these two tragedies so hard for a lot of people to comprehend. These two tragedies are like a "reality check" for a lot of people, since it not only reminds us of our own mortality, but also is proof that none of us are truly safe, and these incidents can occur at any time and anywhere. Violence is such an intergrated part of Life these days that we have more or less been desensitized by it, until something like the shootings in Buffalo and Texas occurs. Saying that "this or that shouldve been done" is basically hindsight. Should there be stricter gun laws? If they were to make it harder to obtain a gun, that is not really going to be a solution, since criminals can still obtain a gun, easier on the street illegally than the law-abiding citizen can obtain one legally, and anyone that determined to take the life of another person/ people can, and will, find a way to kill other than with a gun. Classic example, the guy who deliberately drove his vehicle into a crowd of people at Christmas while they were watching a parade. Do we pass a law banning people from owning and operating a vehicle? What about the numerous people who have died after being repeatedly stabbed by their attacker, do we put a ban on knives and make it illegal to own any kind of knife? Violence is not going to suddenly disappeared if we ban guns. As for the claim these two shooters suffered from mental illness, to me that is merely a cop-out. That these two young men premeditated their attacks then protected themselves by wearing tactical gear in case they encountered opposition while executing their attacks tells me that neither one of these shooters suffered from any kind of mental illness. Their attacks were too well planned and too precise for someone suffering from a mental illness. I realize that most people believe anyone who can do something of this nature must be mentally ill, but I believe that these acts of violence occur more from an emotional breakdown than a mental illness. We all have a "dark side" in us. For most of us, it never " rears its ugly head" however, in these times, with so much negativity and ugliness and destruction occuring in our country, people are angry, frustrated, afraid, and feeling so much stress that emotions are becoming so raw and strained beyond endurance that more and more people are " acting out" emotionally, some to the point these two young shooters did. This country's "moral fiber" all but has disappeared in this country, which I feel is one of the problems with our country and why there is so much division and dissension among us Americans. America is this world's modern day " Sodom and Gomorrah", and unfortunately is only going to get worse until we get to the point where the only way to salvage our Democracy, our Constitutional rights, and our pride and integrity as Americans is to engage in yet another Revolution and Civil War . The lines are already being drawn and it is just a matter of time before it comes to this . Until then, incidents like the shootings in Buffalo and Texas are going to continue to the point where they will become " the norm" instead of " the exception" to Life in this country.
